Richard DeCristofaro Learning Center

The Richard DeCristofaro Learning Center Project, located at 180 Old Colony Avenue, is an important project for the City of Quincy.

A Building’s Success

The TERVA Engineering Team was brought in to provide their expert commissioning services for the 23,300sf renovation / addition to convert this building into a Special Education Center for children with autism and other learning disabilities. The new Center will house therapy rooms, sensory spaces, and life-skill classrooms for children to learn and thrive.

The overall scope of the project involves design, construction, and commissioning of the building. The essential commissioning process, which is fundamental to the success of the whole building design process, ensures a building performs in accordance with the design intent, contract documents, and the City’s operational needs.

The TERVA Engineering Team will utilize their knowledge and experience and manage the entire process of commissioning all building systems for both the renovation and new addition. These systems include ATS switches, emergency generator, air handling units, exhaust fans, boilers, plumbing, lighting controls, HVAC, metering, gas as well as mechanical and electrical systems, window repair/replacement and new finishes. Further improvements that the TERVA Team will commission include new elevators, extensive sitework to include underground utilities, earthwork, and landscaping.
